I’ve spent so much time on there trying to talk to the other side and bots have derailed everything. I used to have back and forths w real folks looking to get into it. Now it’s programming to convince everyone they’re the majority. Despite knowing this it’s still depressing on there. But if you have the stamina for it, it’s worth showing the real folks the questions to ask
This all makes sense to me. I chose to delete the apps from my phone, so I can still access from my computer, but my main reason was the constant access was leading to too much doomscrolling and not enough using it for all the gold reasons you mentioned. At some point I may reassess bringing it back to my phone if I am able to put better boundaries in place.
I liked this take. I've also heard some folks say they're going to stay (for many of the reasons you outlined) but avoiding clicking ads so no (less) money is actually going into Meta's pocket.
wonderfully put! this is 100% why i'm staying on instagram, but also i don't use threads or facebook and i left twitter and tiktok. and like you said, if more things come out about meta, i'll reassess (or if more community groups and art environments im in move to a different platform). well done!
Love this take - it's so difficult to step away from all the cat content that brings me true joy in this world, but there are other areas where I can ghost with ease.

stamina is the perfect word to describe that! You literally have to have the stamina for it to soldier on!
